One can always use the Old JHB road ( R101 )after Centurion, but that road is so busy in the mornings and afternoons. And if you go through the suburbs ( back roads ), you will take forever. Used to live almost on the corner of 14th and Naude. Old JHB Road is simply suicidal. I would go through Hatfield, Fountains, Kloofsig, Centurion, Rooihuiskraal into Midrand but after that I wont be able to help you as to the best possible route in morning traffic. I only drive about 7500km per year, therefore didn't really worry about fuel economy when I bought it - was cheap as well. (My trail bike is insured for more than the car .) Live 2.5km from work now, but extend my commute to +-8km. If I take the direct route, the bike is quicker than the car due to traffic.
