A shim is a metal tube that allows a lower diameter seat post to fit into a larger diameter frame. You would probably crack your frame if you forced the 31.6 into the 30.9.

 

Apologies if I am stating the obvious.

I work in IT, I find when the user does not understand what you are saying you state all the obvious assumptions you have made about the problem. Normally find that one of them is incorrect.

I got a 30.9 to 27.2

it was about R100

 

and it doesn't squeak ever (grease)

 

I called olympic today and got quoted 300rand. Tshini!

thanks for clearing that up.  Me and the other Cotic guy know what we mean but didn't explain it exactly.  you have now cleared up the confusion.  thanks.

 

Now if I can just get the printer to work!

Yup, the smart it guys can nowadays most likely print you a shim .
