gg2 Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 my mate has a set of EA70 mtb 29er wheels. he says if he freewheels and then pedals to engage the wheel it makes a loud "clunk" type noisethe bike shop said that freehub needs replacing and that because they so difficult to get that he should replace entire hub and that that too is difficult to getwas also told to remove spokes a huge issue as well so was better to look at new wheels?is this the problem firstly....can it be sorted?anyone in Durban he can take it too cheers
DaBombBikes Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 We are having the same issue. New agents in SA for easton arent the best. If in doubt, Novatec make a 24h hub for around R1400. Better to replace it and have a new hub then spend the same kind of money on only a hub body.
David Marshall Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Firstly try to determine what causes the clunk. May be a sticky pawl or something similar. Serious damage should be obvious. As for a replacement I've heard that there is no longer an Easton agent in SA. In any event with 24 spokes on a 29" wheel I would rather go for a new wheel with 32 spokes. Even replacing the Easton with another hub will require new spokes. Time for an upgrade!

New agents are useless.....and non-existent. Send an email to "these" agents about a product from one of their other product ranges..... One week later.....still no response. So....maybe CRC is the last resort..... Apologies for the high-jack!
kjind Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Sorry for the hi-jack. I have the same set of rims and I want to convert the back wheel to through axle. Anybody maybe have an adapter I can buy? I got no response from the new agent either.
Pikey Posted June 10, 2016 Posted June 10, 2016 Cajees woodmead sourced me a xd driver for my Easton ea70xct. Took 2 weeks but it was around the cape epic time. New agents are hullabaloo I think ? Cajees were the only ones that helped me.
