From what I understand they need be torqued onto the XD driver, I wouldnt suggest just tightening it tight.

Take it passed your LBS

Yup, correct. And you need to apply some copper compound. Torqued it up to 40Nm.

Thanks BaGearA.

Was hoping for something closer to home though. To be honest, bike shops have messed me around so many times that I've started doing more and more of the maintenance myself. It has become very apparent to me that no bike shop will put the same amount of care into looking after my bike as I will. So, rather than being the guy that points out poor service all the time, I'm just doing it myself. Seriously though, it's not rocket science.

I also noticed that my XO1 cassette wobbles slightly (side to side) when spinning it on my hope pro evo2 hubs. I don't have any shifting issues though and would say its normal.

You do get "wobble" to some extent.  On some of the older cup and cone hubs it can be considerable. Might be worth checking your bearings though.

Your problem sounds very much like a bent hangar.  This is not easy to see and you really need an alignment tool to eliminate this as a cause.  Another reason for those symptoms can be a slight kink in the cable.

You gave it a shot, but need some advice. So take it to a shop.

Where are you based? Would help pointing you in the right direction to a shop that is reputable. DaveM above has a good reputation too :)

If you put the old cassette back, does it also wobble? Does it also skip? Is it the same model?

I was hoping to get round to doing this last night, but "unfortunately" the beers were calling. I'm going to check this out tonight. The plan is to stick the old cassette on and go for a ride once the crappy weather clears out (hopefully Thursday). This should put my suspicions to bed I reckon. The old cassette is an XG1175 model, the new one is a XG1175. The only difference is that on the 1175 model the 42 gear is Alu as opposed to steel on the 1150.

Ya, I did that already, they swapped the gear cable and housing out for new ones, but there was no improvement on the shifting. I'm in Stellenbosch.

I suppose that isn't impossible. I have looked at it, but couldn't see any hanger damage. Maybe a closer look is warranted though, I'll check it out tonight. Have you seen the hanger on the Pyga Pascoe though? I'm pretty sure that along with the cockroaches, that thing is all that will survive a nuclear apocalypse. The cable is fine, no kinks and moves smoothly (cable and housing was replaced in hopes of eliminating the shifting problem).

There is just the small matter of 1470km in between.

Take it to a bike shop.If my cassette wobbled I would be seriously pissed off.

Will check it all out tonight, I have two other cassettes to confirm this with. The old one and a brand new spare. I suppose if all three have the exact same wobble, it must be one of two things:

a) part of the SRAM cassette design (or I have the worst luck)

or b) My hub is buggered.( unlikely I think though, I inspected this after installing the cassette, and everything looked in great shape)
