Look like day one and two for the adventure will be dry, but day 3 will be wet. This is for Ixopo, looks similar for Scotburgh.

The guys doing the race are going to have a wet day 2 and 3....

  , perfect recipe.

I must say, am kinda worried about this new route on Day 2.

My wife has done 2 mountain bike rides in her life. The 14km argus mountain bike ride in 2009, and then the 25km ride for knysna in 2009.

This is going to be her first ride over 50km as well as her first stage race. So technically she will be doing 3 rides over 3 days.

Just take it nice and easy Slowbee.

Save a bit in the tank for the last part of Day 1.

Day 2 the views and trails are so sweet you will be at waterpoint # 1 @ 39km..just 60km and you are done!

Day 3..downhill to the coast!

Yep, I was kinda bummed when they changed the route for day 2. As I knew the "old" route very well, I had distances and things planned out for us. The changes to day 2 now make things a bit more interesting.

On day one, I reckon if we ride at 15km/hr average, we will not drop a seeding group. This may be a good thing for starting day 2, as we will need all the time we can get. If we do drop one seeding group that will also be ok.

Day 2, her skills into the valley will for sure be tested. Not so much in terms of riding skill, but coping with always needing to brake because of people being in front of her which she is not used to. I will ride behind her so keep the "keep track" people off her back. If we can get to WP 1 with a 15km/hr avg we are in with a fighting chance on making the cut off at highflats church by 15H00. With the new route in play, I am just not sure how many matches we can burn and where. So it is going to be interesting.

Day 3 is a crap ride up hill to WP 1. After that it is all "mostly" downhill home.

With the wind being so hectic on the adventure day 3,  I wonder if they are going to tie the floating bridge down or leave it to float around like J2C.

What batch are you starting in Slowbee?

M. So near the back. If you dont want to get held up on single track, guess you better peddle your wares and fly fast. If you start lower than M group.

Not sure which is worse, being stuck behind someone or having someone up your rear!

The start times for the latter batches are really late, you are sitting round for ages before you set off. Not ideal but I suppose it is what it is!

a nice late morning start and take it easy to the start kinda vibe. none of this getting your kit together in the dark kind of nonsense. at least we get to enjoy a cuppa tea with sunrise and warmth.

and if I choose to lie to myself thats my problem

Today Mrs Slowbee and I did our last training ride before S2C. She is both excited and nervous, hell I am nervous for her! She has put in so much effort.

Been to a biokineticist to help her elbow and shoulder. Been on skills clinics, and generally given it a good go, on TOP of opening two new aspects to the business. (Yes it has been VERY stressful). Since March this year she has done 1105km, spent 75H06 min on her bike at an avg of 14.7km/hr.

Some will say this is to slow - but I say it is perfect. We will approach all 3 days just like our training rides back to back. Slow and steady, but well within the time zones.

@Escapee, have a good one.

Rock'nRolla, what is your tent number, drop it to me on PM.

Well off to pack the car and we start driving tomorrow.

Be safe everyone, and keep the rubber down.

Oh yes. I'll get Mrs Slowbee to do a full ride report.
