Missed the drama yesterday. We had a family tea in the afternoon.

At least me and my son had a nice punchy ride out to Stellies in the morning. On the flat road back I asked him to take the lead and go for it. We managed to maintain 42 km/h for about 7 min, but damn, it is tough. Gave me new respect for pro tour riders maintaining that speed over a 200 km stage.

I think you clicked on the wrong thread accidentally Stretch.

I've been itching to ask this question for months!

Because the locals around hear that have been bust are generally considered to be a bunch of twats?

Also they aren't Bert and have never been able to light it up quite like he does.. perhaps his fighting spirit, his outlook on life and his relationship with his fans and the media?

Don't get me wrong - I think he is a great rider and a great competitor - but a cheat is cheat is a cheat is it not? Ben Johnson, Carl lewis et al...all great athletes in their own rights...but still cheats at the end of the day

anyway..perhaps the wrong place and time to ask the question

Auuughhhh stretch.... that argument is soooo old and we all know it was something he "ate"... you CANT put him in the same pool as people who lay down on a bed transferring huge amounds of blood into themselves... sooo whish you guys would stop this nonsense...

Alberto is a TRUE racer...any real bike rider would know this... he makes the "boring races" something to watch!!! I just whish everyone else can have his spirit !!!

As someone said you are on the wrong thread here with that mentality and please respect other people regardless of what you heard or believe, one day is one day and the "cheats of today" will be caught tomorrow... Alberto has ALWAYS been a racer since he got on his bike the first time...hes very humble and a true superstar regardless of a little piece of "biltong" that was found in his system.

This Vuelta is amazing and im happy to see all the racing and tactics !!!

Each to his own, you have every right to have that opinion.

The reason why I don't take his 2 year ban seriously, is because he was tested positive for Clenbuterol   its not a Steroid (EPO or Testosterone) its a weight loss pill that doesn't give any performance enhancement. (maybe he took it a month prior to the 2010 tdf to shed 2kg's before July and somehow small traces where found in his blood later)

But its definitely not something that's going to make you win the tour due to taking it. Heck even Britney Spears admitted to using it on a regular bases to shed her boep.

That's just my 2c.

I am going to say something here...and don't take it the wrong way...but why do we come out with pitchforks when we see locals competing after a doping ban..but contador is a legend?

Good question, Stretch.

I believe that it is just a sport

And that rules are broken with dopping.

And when a fine is imposed and served, it is complete.

Others take it far more seriaaaasly.

I believe in forgiveness.

Tough to do. But so important.

Bertie's whole case was a big bugger up.. Riders have been cleared for less.. the amount found in his system was so small, that they couldn't definitely say that he gained an advantage.. also coming off of a big shite storm perhaps made an example of.. think of who was UCI president and think of who had him in his pocket .. that case was a big mess.

It was not quite as clear cut as some would think.

But with all his bad luck he has now paid more than 10 fold for those 2 pieces of steak[emoji6]

Perhaps a debate for another time?

fair enough - as you rightly mentioned  - i probably don't have enough background knowledge as I am not a massive follower of the road circuit - and my point was never meant to be insulting or derogatory..just a comment and something that has been bugging for a while. I likely missed the whole discussion a few years back..but in light of the recent spate of local bannings and how the pitchforks have come out in full - i was merely being genuine in my question.

did not want to offend anyone. From my passion - which is athletics..i still rate Carl Lewis as one of the greatest athletes of his time, but will never discount that he cheated

I think we should take this discussion to the doping forum   I would like to talk about the lack of work yesterday from Orica and BMC. They had much to lose but never even tried to pull back the breakaway. I  know it was a brutal stage but somehow it has got to look as though you are trying !

Cudos to Berto and Q for making  yesterday Super exciting!

Will be interesting to see Sky response!

Unlike others who openly post and show their delight at the misfortune of others who had a bad day racing yesterday!!

I think Orica were a bit kaput after their escapades of Saturday and went more into a control lossess mode.. and then left it to Chavez to do damage control on the last climb.?

Donno what BMC were up to though lol

I'm consistent at least. I've disliked Froome since his days of supporting Wiggo.

I have never changed my song. And its got nothing to do with doping.
