I pity the folks that will be driving to this event, parking will be a mission considering the shorter routes that are now available. For me it's a quick warm up ride from Welgevonden.

Love this ride, just not so much all the DC teams using it as a prep ride... oi.

Stupid question - but if I ride this as a non-PPA member... do I have to start riiiiiight at the back? Since I then also don't have PPA seeding any more.

Stupid answer - Yes

Stupid observation - why not be part of the PPA?

Calling iCycling, calling iCycling.

Someone has asked your favorite question!!

(Long answer short - they do very little with funds from a road event for road cycling in Cape Town)

Because I run more than I ride nowadays.

Will have to take my chances on Stellies Cycle Tour for CTCC seeding, then. If I get accepted to ride that...

You see therein lies the problem. It's not about you, PPA does good things for cycling as a whole. Think of your membership fee more as a donation to a cause.

Same goes for your entry fees on rides - in most cases those rides are there to help charitable causes.

They could be doing a lot more with our donations, sitting on R17 million investment does not help road cycling in Cape Town.

This below is the issue:

This was 99-00 PPA season, missing 3-4 events as some were on both days of weekend:

This is the same season last year: Missed Tiletoria and Worcester ride:

See why some people are with upset with PPA and road events, more road events, the less chance of people being killed on the road.

This race seeds everyone, regardless of PPA membership or not. It's not like the typical PPA race where you'd start in temp.

Looking at that one can see where lcycling is coming from...

But can one really just only blame PPA, generally speaking they are not the ones organising most of the races? They play more of a facilitating role for organisers?

Seems more to me there are less organisers out there interested in hosting road events (rather opting for mtb'ing etc)

I only started in 2011, but yes, there were a lot more road rides back then. The thing is the trafficops are not too fond of all the road cycling so much.

That is not the case either, they do cost, but its not that much if you have 100 people taking part.

Obviously the South is a no go now due to road works etc...

I dont think so, last year I rocked out with my PPA number, no seeding for the event.
