I would have said yes but have no idea what my plans are yet as I have some mates down from Cpt and will have to get them sorted out and pick up bikes etc etc.

Is it only saturday or can it be done earlier ?

Thanks, but ya, unfortunately they are insisting that it can only be done from 9am on Saturday.

I do expect carnage in as far as cramping and bailing out is concerned. Locals have not had it very favourable with training the last couple of weekends. If the wind wasn't blowing you towards Mozambique, the rain was soaking you and your bike maliciously. Best we not think about PB's. Settle in for well organised training ride prior to 947.

Looks like we're expecting a bit of rain . Not so sure how I feel about bunch racing on a wet (downhill ;)) route. Might have to solo TT this one.

if it's raining when I wake up Sunday morning will be well disappointed.

I have a HUGE favour to ask. If there is anyone that is planning to be at race registration at 9am on Saturday, is there any chance you can please try to book me two seats on one of the buses to get back to the start? I have filled out the forms and made payment now all I need is to be there to hand in the forms at 9am (on a first come-first serve basis) but I'm only leaving Pretoria on Saturday morning so this is simply not possible for me. So I could send you the completed forms and proof of payment and then I imagine you would just need to hand it in for me at registration in order to secure my spot. If anyone would be willing to assist I would be most grateful.

conditions will still be better than R4V. a lil rain will just make us slow down a bit but should still be a good day out.

Hello fellow riders,

I'm curious to know what getting out of Durban is like after the Amashova is completed.

Are the roads crazy jam packed or is it bearable? We will need to get back onto the N3. Is it best to leave the area before the 3pm cut off or after?

All the best, see you soon

The area around suncoast will be busy, but getting out of Durban won't be a mission. I would assume that most guys will spend the night in Durban anyway and enjoy the beach

this could get interesting...

Due to the current #FeesMustFall protests at Universities around the country, and the related acts of violence, we would like to strongly recommend that participants do NOT use the Alan Paton Avenue (old Durban Road) off ramp to Pietermaritzburg. Linked to this would be to avoid the area around the UKZN campus on Alan Paton Avenue and surrounding roads, including the area around the Scottsville Mall.

At this point we would like to recommend making use of the following three off ramps
1. New England Road (from which you can access Boshoff Street and the CBD)
2. Ortmann Road (from which you can access Boshoff Street and the CBD, but avoid using the lower ends of Church Street)
3. Sanctuary Road (Liberty Midlands Mall) from where you can access Boschoff Street and Chief Albert Luthuli Street (old Commercial Road), the road in which the start takes place.

The Sanctuary Road off ramp would be the one of choice from an access and safety point, loading from the back of the event with a drop off in and around the Chief Albert Luthuli Street / Greyling Street intersection.

We would also recommend that participants do NOT use the Church Street off ramp for safety reasons.

The Sanctuary/ Liberty mall off ramp would be my advice. I dont think there will be trouble on Alan paton rd at 7:00 on a Sunday but rather safe than sorry.
