Rockshox Fork Interchangability

Hey fellow hubbers,

A question for the fork gurus:

I was wondering if 26er RS fork components are interchangeable, I have a broken Revelation lower ( broken arch and dropout) and wanted to know if a Reba lower would work with the Revelation crown and stanchions?

Thanks,

Dale

There are far too many variables here, so my answer is... it depends.

First thing to check is the length of the stanchion tubes. If both forks are the same then the lowers should fit.

Second, Revelation lowers will be stronger than Reba. So don't expect a 150mm trail fork as the result.

Third, where did the lowers come from? If they're from a Reba with worn stanchions, throw them away - the bushings will be made of sandpaper and your stanchions will wear out.

Basically - your best bet would be to get a new set of RVL lowers and fit those.

Could you not just replace the bushings?

Find me some bushings and I'll gladly do it for you. Oh, and a bushing resizer while we're about it.

RS don't believe in the ability of the "average" techie to fit bushings themselves without cocking it up, so they don't supply either. Only lowers assemblies with bushings pre-fitted.

Anyone know where I can get new lowers?

Yes. I'll need the year of manufacture and travel of the fork, and / or a photo of the busted lowers for reference.

Can't guarantee I'll find some , but I can give it a shot.

My email address will be in your inbox shortly.
