Myles, would you recommend a 5010 an Ibis Ripley or a Giant Reign?

Ripley is in a different category, so I'd rank that against things like the Cannondale Habit, the camber, RM Thunderbolt etc etc.

Of the 5010 & reign. Sjoe. Dunno, man. Both great bikes. If price is a concern, then the Reign as you will get a better spec for your buck. 5010 is apparently a bike that is far more "playful" (ie more poppy, looking for anything to pop off of, less point and shoot) than the reign, which is more like the Nomad in that it's a mini DH bike.

I'd say they're all great bikes, with different focuses. As one bike to rule them all.... 5010 would get my vote. I believe it's more of an all rounder than the reign, whilst being more capable than the Ripley.

All depends what you want, though.

Either way, though... great bikes. If I had the cash - all of them :)

So I'm 99% set on Karl's 2015 model 5010, however with the insurance pay-out still pending I have tried to set up the back-up plan being to test-ride a new Giant Trance Advanced when I go to jozi in two weeks' time.

Contacted Linden Cycles (i recall them stocking Giant) and lo and behold, they can't get this arranged through the distributor which I'm told is dragon sports.

Not slamming LC, they actually went out of their way to try and find me demo bikes from other shops, but how is it possible that Giant, the largest global bicycle manufacturing company, can't produce a demo unit for probably their second most popular model after the anthem?
