XC Full Face Helmets

So for the general hack riding around on the weekend's trail ride it would work.....especially those with the detachable chin guards .... it's not like you racing, so you can slap it on at the top of a long climb.

Ultra distance events, yes I agree it would be over kill.

XCO, where it is full tilt racing on more and more tech trails might still be a good option. Should the ventilation and weight be addressed in a satisfactory manner.

Not long ago most riders were saying they would never ride with a dropper post as they don't see the need for it .... now XCO boys and girls are starting to use them too.

Let's see where it goes to in the future.....with #ENDURO rocking the way it is, this could be the catalyst to developing a helmet light enough, and with sufficient ventilation to break into the XCO market.

That poor lady racing on the WC XCO this year (For the life of me I can't remember her name now) would have done well with a FF lid during some of the races vs sporting nice shinners afterwards.

Good points. There was a predator styled XC FF helmet a couple of years ago.

It looked *** though. Not sure how well it worked.

As for XCO. There were some lekker tumbles on the rock garden at the olympics and I wondered why these guys don't wear protection in general. I mean I know why. But jinne.

Maybe if there's enough injuries in races they will make more protection mandatory.

Perhaps more R&D will go into making super light and maneuverable stuff weight weenies can wear.

I was going to comment under V12 the same things Hairy mentioned...

The Epic and the likes are marathon races...

The OP mentioned XC and Hairy mentioned XCO, I think the way the new style XC and XCO tracks are going full face isn't far away!

The lady you're thinking of is Pauline Ferrand Prevot!

At least she's the only one I can remember having a rather nice shiner after a tumble. :whistling:

Agree with V12.

More people will use the convertible option for general riding around and enduro events, but XC, marathon and road riders will never go for it. Unless of course they introduce a lightweight solar powered aircon system for them :-) How good does spandex and full face lid look?

I could go for an air con for my full face - time for a kick-starter project...

I think spandex and a long travel 29er enduro bike with flat pedals looks just fine... provided I am the one riding said bike...

Spandex does not look fine on a male, ever, no matter what bike.

Some say, spandex makes babies cry when one walks passed.

Edit: Except for Superman, he's cool.

See lots of that in Morz. Throw in knee pads, elbow guards, Spanish speaking and a profound lack of riding ability and the picture is complete.

It doesn't stop them sending stuff that they REALLY shouldn't tho.

Sounds like you just described one of the pics of you in Morzine this year...
