jcza Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Leicester to win the league was 5000/1, it still happened! I think the odds in cycling are much more spread out as it's much less predictable (or shall we say, unforseen crashes can change the landscape). The leicester win would be similiar to the 2006 oscar pereirro tour victory. Place your bet, I'm sure the bookmaker will be happy to accommodate you. Personally I don't think Rolland will come close to the podium.
Gen Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Paolini wasn't dirty, he was fun!Damn straight.. his fun timing was just a little off. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Gen Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Do you watch the races? Remember his visit to his private doctor for acupuncture? And suddenly he makes up the huge time deficit. After being dropped on earlier mountainousness stages? No harm in being a fan of the guy. But please don't pretend the guy has never used a doctor to aid his performance.Remember the year he won the TDF when everyone else crashed out.. how many of his team mates tested positive..remember seeing that Astana train at the front of the peloton.. maybe you don't need to cheat but if your team mates dope you gain a hell of an advantage from having a strong team. As for Nibbles..aye.. I have mixed feelings about him.. absolutely love watching him descent and he rides an aggressive race, but he will always just be the best of the rest... but hard to look past his Astana days hey (those few years did a lot of damage to his reputation IMO).. and it was recent too. We also saw Llandis gain huge time after dropping a lot..so yeah.. all the signs are there unfortunately. Okay he is at a new team and the new team also had a dark cloud over them for different reasons of course.. the Bahrain prince is not a good guy. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
GrumpyOldGuy Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I rate him to podium heyAbove average climberSuper time triallerSolid over 3 weeksAverage team though to back him - this may be a Achilles heel Yah, but then he will have to do it on his own, I dont think Sunweb are really a GC team, they will try for stage wins in my opinion.
Gen Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Yah, but then he will have to do it on his own, I dont think Sunweb are really a GC team, they will try for stage wins in my opinion. They are taking a lot of support for his GC ambitions, will be interesting to see how it goes Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Mntboy Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Yah, but then he will have to do it on his own, I dont think Sunweb are really a GC team, they will try for stage wins in my opinion.Ja the climbing support for him looks lank thin. Only Ten Dam and Kelderman really. Still reckon of he can somehow keep pace with NQ and Kruijswijk his ITT ability could potentially net him a podium. Tough tough ask though. carbon29er Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 If we look at results, we can confirm that Cannondale Dracpac is definitely not doping! So hoping for a breakthrough GC for himAnd for the Green MachineCmon Pierre!!!Really ever since 'Dale took his love away from Cannondale to follow wideboy and the kitchen fan/bathroom sink they have been a bit ordinary. Pierre Rolland has animated a few stages then popped ever since Bbox Bouygues Telecom became Europecar. Except for his win on the Alpe in 2011. I loved watching him that year. But having said that, he won the white jersey in 2011, has 2 10th and an 8th at the Tour while he placed 4th at the Giro in 2014. Maybe JV has found the right stuff for 2017.

Patchelicious Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Damn straight.. his fun timing was just a little off. Sent from my SM-G920F using TapatalkTo be honest, I don't think he did coke during the race. That won't help the guys much, and they are focused. I think what happened was that he did it during the off season while on one of those "high in the Colombian Mountains" training camps (yes that was on purpose), then took some blood out for a BB, and put the dirty blood back in during the race. That would make so much more sense than doing cheeky while racing a Grand Tour.

(But he was very honest and open about his addiction to sleeping pills..and seem the Coke was used to counter the effects of the sleeping pills.. or something like that) I actually have a lot of respect for him, owned up made no excuses and gave us some insight to his struggles. (Which he didn't need to do) Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

GrumpyOldGuy Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 Well, as I am clearly not a Quintana fan I am going to throw my money in the well on Ilnur Zakarin, I have liked his "get on and go" attitude for a while now, he doesn't say much but he can climb with the best of them and on a good day better than most, his TT is a little concerning but there are enough Mountain stages for a good climber to get sufficiently high time gaps to cover their TT losses. So there we have it, Scarponi would have been my pick without a doubt, but now its Zakarin.
