CatzSpace "frail" Posted October 23, 2016 Share Hello Guys MTB is new to me, always been a roadie. I have Slicks on a Cruiser, for commuting. The Rear wheel forms a line along the length of the tube. The tube starts to Tear on that line. The tyres are 26 x 2.125. 1. I have tried different Tubes2. I have tried different tyre pressure's, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 What do you Suggest?
popcorn_skollie Posted October 23, 2016 Share If you can't run tubeless with those rims and you can't ghetto it either.Tape the rim up anyways. Even insulation tape will do in this case. But gorilla tape is best. Tyre liners between the tube and tyre could also help. Then when you're done and you fitted the tube. Fill is with sealent. Not sludge or slime or any of that other rubbish. Actual tubeless sealent inside the tube.Dinged the rims on My DH bike. Made tubeless pretty frustrating. So that's what I did and it worked. No flats. Tony datoy Posted October 23, 2016 Share Try thinner tubes, like tyres tubes come in different widths.Could be the tube is folding inside the tyre because it is too wide.T
bikebloke Posted October 23, 2016 Share pictures ? it could a few things.. pics will help which side of the tube with relation to the valve ?are the rims rated to take the tyres you are using (width)?and are the tyres seating inside the rim correctly or are they pinching the tube or not seating and allowing the tube to escape along the rim edge?could the bead of the tyre be pinching the tube when you fit it and ripping when you inflate ?have you checked the inside of the rims for sharp edgeshave you checked the inside of the bead of the tyre for sharp edgeshave the checked the spoke nipples inside the rim for sharpsis your rim tape pinching the tube or is it ripped and sharp somewhereis there a sharp edge inside the valve hole in the rim? are you damaging the tube when you seat the tyre with your tyre levers etc (no offence it happens to us all) isn't this fun
100Tours Posted October 23, 2016 Share Shouldn't happen. IMHO, not more than 1 puncture in 1000 k's or you're doing it wrong (or you're in the thorn veld in Botswana), and there's no amount of normal wear between the rim/tyre carcass and the tube. My first thought was to ask whether you have rim tape in, or possibly some unusual combination of tyre and rim (really wide tyres on really narrow rime maybe). A picture tells a thousand words.. Hairy Posted October 23, 2016 Share is the tube splitting at the same place on the tube in relation to it's position in the rim. inspect your tyre for any cuts that could be allowing the tube when under pressure, to expand into. it could be visible when inflated or the tube could just be pushing into the cut in the tyre and then after a few kms of riding, burst on this pressure spot. the latter had been an issue for me on relatively new tyres that did not stand up too well to the rigours of committing daily

CatzSpace "frail" Posted October 23, 2016 Share It seems to be from the Rim.The line /Tear is on the underneath side of the tube. Twice a spot say a hand from the Valve.Twice a spot opposite the Valve. I have put extra insulation over the Rimtape. The tubes are the correct size. The tyre is seated correctly.I don't get tube caught in fitting. The line/ Tear stays in the center of the Rim all the way round. IMG_20161024_010011.jpgIMG_20161024_005812.jpgHello Guys MTB is new to me, always been a roadie. bikebloke Posted October 24, 2016 Share remember you may not notice the sharp very easily because when you inflate the tube is up against the inside of the rim under high pressureyou may have to really jam your finger hard against the surfaces to find it and the tape may be pressed inwards against the rim by the pressure and a spoke nipple may move inwards when the wheel rolls did you check the spoke tensions by hand to make sure one isn't loose just saying
