Im thinking of making my morewood shova lt a single speed so i can barspin it and i hardly use gears, would this be a bad idea?or is there a way to make barspins possible with all the cables?

Are bar spins really a freeride thing? Slopestyle/DJ perhaps.

Either way, you'll still need to account for the brake hoses if you want to go bananas with the handlebars.

You'll need to run a chain tensioner because of the chain growth issue. Also you'll need to figure out a decent ratio that will work for you. I think 17 or 18 on the rear with a 36 up front should work. If I remember correctly that's the ratio I had in mind when I was thinking about singlespeeding my DH bike

Single speed is a bad idea on that bike. If the bike was a dedicated slope rat then I'd say sure go for it. But you really want all the gears at your disposal for general tom foolery.

My jump bike was SS once. I couldn't wheelie it at all. I need a lighter gear to get things going.

As odinson pointed out. The brake hoses are your main problem.

Take a look at Semanuk's ticket so you get an idea of how its done.

42 up front and 16 on the rear?

My dj bike was 32f and 16 rear that was way to light for sprinting

Bad idea going single speed on the morewood.

Chain tension will be a mission. The chain growth will be an issue. Will need some form of spring loaded chain tensioner.

You can route your front brake hose through your headset, but that means you will have to bleed your brakes each time the fork gets removed for a service/maintenance.

Also, you will need a long enough brake hose to wrap around at least two to three times, else you will have to spin he bars back each time.

My best advise, if you want to do more dirt jumping/slopestyle trick, get a cheap DJ bike. Saw quite a few giant stp's on gumtree recently.

Don't get too hung up on the right tool for the job just yet.

There are so many tricks to learn and master before you decide to start spinning bars.

Jumps, whips, manuels, scrubs, roosts, you name it. The shova can handle that stuff.

There's lots to learn to keep you progressing. SS will just inhibit that process.

If you're hell bent on throwing horns you could try suicide no handers.

You don't need the bar to rotate for that.

I'm in the process of learning a suicide no-footer, so like the skollie said, don't get too hung up on stuff like bar spins for which you may need a modded bike.

I'm just trying to keep the bike straight so I can land without dying and folks around here talking bar spins.

Hey mongooser you should post some footage of those tricks. I'd love to see them.
