Trekking handlebar availability in SA

Hi all, I'm trying to get my brother-in-law comfy on his MTB. He's had two hip replacements and even though the setup is a bit 'sit up and beg', he still has a bit of impingement. So I thought of getting him a trekking handlebar - so any ideas on where I can get one locally? The idea is to get him a bit more upright,

Else, a shorter stem that points almost vertically would be good too.

I have the same physical problem.

Had to be very patient indeed for stuff to come up second hand.

I use a Midge bar on my road bike with stem riser and will NEVER sell it

On my MTB I have Carnegie bars and they work for me.  Straight riser bars hurt  and were not so lekker for my purpose.

On my tourer I use Mary bars with an adjustable suspension to lift things even higher. Rather that than have hip pain.

Also check saddle.  Rolls worked for me and so did the Adamo. The worst is the Fizik range.Saddle to me is just as  important height wise to prevent the injury flaring up/going numb.

Riser stems are available locally and so are riser bars.

Sitting up and begging is far better than lying down and feeling sorry for yourself.

What "trekking" bar do you have in mind?

interesting site ,some serious kit

I had no idea all that stuff was so pricey, its expensive like racing but different

I thought trekking was like camping "the cheap holiday alternative "

obviously I was very wrong :whistling:

Yip.

You know the definition for camping...

Paying a fortune to live like a squatter...
