I assume certain distributors have dealerships with Shimano - I am looking for a specific shifter base cap and screw - Shimano part 6VT98090 - nobody has them listed for sale, not in SA or UK

Go to your lbs and ask them. Shimano SA stocks lotsa parts that the online stores don't advertise.

Some feedback: brilliant service from www.sjscycles.co.uk - didn't have the part on website - emailed them to ask for it - within minutes they emailed back that it is identical to part 6VT98030 which they have - ordered, going to cost me a whopping R60 - score!

problem is that if it goes through the normal postal system it has a 90% chance of getting lost.

I have a number of small parts i have ordered that 4 months later are still missing.

Fortunately I've got a mate in UK about to make a trip out here

Same happened to me recently, luckily I had a Zee shifter on my other bike and the cover fit perfectly (except it now says M640 instead of M670). Looks like the Deore (M610) shifters have the exact same cover. Will try and source this cover locally, failing that I guess sjcycles.co.uk is the only way. Will post updates.
