Hi guys

I remember there use to be a parking spot on a main road, on the left, you came out the gate and then hit a road that was about 20km, before you got to a 4way stop, turned right and did the climb up the hill,

I've heard this stop spot/restaurant has closed, we're also looking for something a bit closer, thinking 40km out and back...

Can you suggest... and share google map pins.

Not sure we thinking of the same place, you drive past the garage and its 2km on the left?

Hope it hasn't closed as I want to go there on the 11th...

What you wanna do there... ?

You turn left into the property, old style white farm house building, front and the building behind it, higher up the hill was the restaurant.

You came out the gate, turned right, for say 20m and then turned into a T junction off the main road that you just continued straight on for 25 odd km's.

Got to a 4 way crossing where you turned right and started the main climb...

Believe it now more,

We looking at doing about 40km, up to the top of breeds neck and back down/return.

most of the people joining, will be there first visit and won't make it if we go down and then back up also.

Ride to Shebeen, have 2 double brandy and cokes, ride back and have a burger at the restaurant that apparently is now closed. Wanna join? Will your boss let you join???

I have only done it from van Gaalens and back, that's 100 km. Riders also meet and park at the Spar/Total garage a kilometre down the road but I believe they stopped that due to some security issues.

I was at the farm awesme is talking about a month ago, but found it to be empty? That is 60 km return, similar to the parking lot.

I would also like to know what riders are doing nowadays as I wish to go up during December........

Think we talking about the same original parking spot, 60km sound about what we did.

any chance you have a google pin?

Drive 200m past the dirt road that one cycles on to Breedts and turn left at a farm called Berlouri - drive stright up the hill, past a dam and straight through a gate into the farm and park under the trees.

Last week I parked at the new Total on the R563, no issues and a shop to stock up on.

Van Gaalens is always a good spot to park :w00t: :w00t:

Apologies if this is a hi-jack, but you guys seem knowledgeable and I'm curious. Queries follow:

Are the routes (to the top return, and to the Shebeen return?) technical? eg would it be considered a gravel-grinding route on a cyclocross-type bike, for the average dirt roadie (yes, I know....)?

Are there any options to go beyond the top/shebeen and do a loop to return to the Hekpoort area, on tar if necessary?

Ta in advance?

Easy gravel-grinding not technical at all.
