BB compatibility

Hi you tech people.

I have a FSA carbon crank with a mega exo external BB. I want to buy a frame with a pressfit BB. Now I see there are more than 1 presfitt size. I see a BB72 and BB86. Would my crank be compatible with any of these sizes?

I do not know what size the bb on the frame is yet.

The bike was speced with a shimano crank, so I do not think it was Bb30.

Thanks for your input.

From the digging I've done the frame uses a BB86 shell (stupid idea) thus you are limited to Shimano or SRAM (GXP only) cranks. This is due to the 41mm shell size.

Edit: Forgot to answer your question . So no your FSA BB30 cranks wont work.

Just had a look at the Wheel Manufacturing site and they do make a solution to allow the use of 30mm cranks Link.

But if your frame has a carbon BB shell I would highly advise against it. If there is the slightest amount of play on the outer race of the bearing due to wear, etc then it's going to wear the carbon and you will be left with an oversized BB shell.

I do not have a bb30, mine is a standard crank with a external bb. My consern is the lenth of the shaft going through the frame.

Why not email FSA and see if they have a solution for you.
