Stop getting so hooked up on kit and bikes and whatever

Just get out there and ride

with sitting around and doing all these bloody yoga thingies and stretches and stuff the mind just sits and wonders. I can only get back on the bike 1 Feb.

If you use softish shoes that are good for walking then pedals with more support makes sense. The most important thing is to test gear properly beforehand. See what works for you. I thought thicker woolier socks should be more comfortable but found they made my feet numb over long distances. I then switched to the thinnest possible sock and they proved very comfortable.

Interesting, thanks. As a matter of interest, what pedals and shoes were you using?

I used what I had. SPD 520s and the entry level capestorm shoe. Very comfortable shoe. As I say, socks made all the difference. Thin was best.
