This year has been great for me in the fitness side.

Managed to drop 20kg.

I was only able to buy a bike 4 months ago and my goal was to do at least one race before the end of the year. Managed to do the Diamond dash 40km and did the rockman duathlon.

looking forward to next year and to do a full marathon race and the Sani Dragon hopefully.

Managed two sub 3's. Weight still up and down. Need to commit better to the non existent program. Find out how much rest is ample (where I hit the sweet spot), prior to a race. Stop pretending that I am actually much better than the times I achieve. Do longer training rides and maybe join a club. I give myself an optimistic 70% for 2016 as far as the bike goes.

This year has been good in some places and okay in others.

My fitness levels have decreased a lot, due to not riding nearly as much as I did or wanted too, but I focused more on skills and made some improvements there.

Also focused more on strength training, and after 11 months of recovery and not being able to use my upper body which suffered a lot of muscle atrophy. Gained 6 kg in muscle mass from the 9 I lost originally, and my right shoulder is catching up with my left one.

Also, only been off the bike for a total of 6 weeks this year due to minor injuries or flu, which is better than previous years, where I've been off the bike for 5+ months. Win win.

Was a rollercoaster of note for me.  We started 2016 for all tecnical purposes on very very low low.  Both my wife and I without a job.  Although I had a contract signed I was only due to start in March 2016.  But we end the year both with a salary.  I actually quite the original job before I started it as I got another offer which suited me better and paid a tad more and started earlier.  My wife got to start her own business as she was presented with an oppurtunity to buy a business with alot of potential.  So all in all as I look back we end the year pretty well (battered and bruised but we made it)

On the cycling it went very well. With well over 5000 km of cycling of which most of it was in Summer I can't complain.  I have reached a level of fitness I have not had for a long time.  Two sessions of flew and unseasonal rain showers in Autumn and beginning winter has stuffed up my cycling in the last couple of months.

Next year still have a set of challanges with the highest being spending more family time together and ironing out some of the collateral damage of the beginning of 2016.

From a cycling point of view I aim to HTFU a bit and start taking on the cold weather with the bike. There is enough looneys here doing it so if they can, so can I.

Might have a move into a house but that would be in our area but it could alter some of the epxectations for 2017.
