So my wheels are quite buggered and in serious need of repair. More so the back than the front. Front wheel buckled, back buckled and missing 3 spokes. Quote labour only is 150 per hour :-( Would it not be cheaper to buy secondhand 26" wheels as i have seen some on the Gum for 500 bucks. Bearing in mind that i have the centre fixed disc rotors. Are these wheels easy to come by?

26" wheels are becoming quite hard to come by unfortunately, so if you can find some decent wheels secondhand, go for it.

There's a 'garage sale' ad that was listed today, where the guy has 26" wheels with rotors for sale-might be worth a look. I'm sure you'll be able to get it for R500 or cheaper...

My guess is that the rims are poked as well as the spokes.  Decent spokes/nipples for a wheelset will cost over R1000 and rims R1200.  R150 per hour is cheap for labour.  No doubt about it - you can get 26" wheels second hand for a lot less.

Centre Lock rotors are Shimano specific. That means, to keep your current rotors, you will need Shimano wheels.

Having said that, rotors are quite cheap, you can easily get ones to match whatever wheels you buy.

You can get adapters to fit 6 bolt rotors to a centre lock wheel, but I'm not sure if you can get adapters to fit centre lock rotors to a 6 bolt wheel
