When installing a saddle onto seatpost rails, are you supposed to spray/smear anything between them? They seem to seize together if not....

I normally lightly coat with normal wheel bearing grease, or a light machine oil.

I normally use a light coat of grease (same I use for bearings)

I'd like to hear this too, as have slipping/creaking issues.

Bike-specific greases are very slippery, for bearings etc, which is the opposite of what you want on a clamp.

I was thinking of using copperslip, which is messy and some say has cathodic corrosion issues, or sticky packing grease?

On carbon you can use carbon assembly paste, but what to use for alloy/alloy?

grease...make sure you grease the threads of the bolt/s as well so they may get torqued correctly.
