Hi Guys, looking for advice on first road bike, nothing too crazy 2nd should do.

Found a Raleigh LTD 2013 that looks in good condition for what seems like a reasonable price.

Anyone got first hand experience with the bike?

The other option is a CAAD8 but can only view on Monday and I'm like 3rd in line...$_20.JPG

This was Raleigh's top model when they were still operational in SA.

Sold with Zipp 404 if I remember correctly.

Not too sure about 2013 - suspect it was a little before that. (apologies if I'm wrong)

That said, DA7800 has stood the test of time in many cases.

Those Raleighs are really good bikes, but if the seller is telling you it is a 2013 model, then he is misinformed. That is a 2008 model. They changed the shape in 2009 and stopped selling high end bikes in 2011.

I have the red/black version of that bike and I love it. Depending on his asking price, I would take it.

I got mine after wrecking my Specialized Tarmac and I must say, I much prefer the Raleigh.

PM 'Dale, he had the same bike in Red Black colour scheme.... He'll be able to advise on the quality of the bike...

Not to hijack the thread but what is the story behind Raleigh. Such an iconic brand but seems like they cannot get into the higher end of the market.

I'd also like to know

Raleigh in SA were manufactured/designed by Probike in PE. The Raleighs we got were unique to SA and were, in my opinion, good quality bikes.

In 2011, Scott bought Probike. Raleigh in the UK didn't like this and withdrew the rights to use the Raleigh name. That is why Axis was born. But over the years Axis has moved more and more entry level, I suppose Scott wants to promote their own brand.

Cool info, I have seen some of the older Raleigh road bikes and they look really good.

That's why I'm so keen on this bike, good pedigree!
