BMX - Help Please

I need some assistance from the BMX Experts please. I bought two BMX frames and forks, with some other random bits and pieces. I'd like to know, are they worth anything, do I spend time and $$$ to build them properly, or do I do a "cheap" build and let the kids abuse them?

 

The first is a GT, Alu frame, Power Series Ultra Box. Internal cable routing, 6051 Aluminium frame:

The second is a Haro, no identifiers except for the Haro badge and a serial number on the BB shell. Chromed frame:

if you dont want to spend time ill take the haro frame...

Proper & decent frames there, I'd take the time & money to build them proper. Not only will it last longer you can let the kids getting into racing. Will teach good skills that will stand them in good stead when they transition into road or Mtb.

The GT is a good frame and race worthy. The hard is not a race frame.

 

Just cost your build to ensure financial viability but importantly availability of parts.

Bought the lightie one off Chain Reaction, as he's been itching to ride it to school.....live in the U.K. Not a cheap one mind you. About €450rr

 

He's a very accomplished MTB, and Road rider, and has done some track sessions....

 

He's now saying he'd like to give the BMX league a go...

 

How do you know what is good for racing?

 

Race worthy vs not race worthy?

Anything can be raced but if he is going to be getting serious then a race bike will be needed, low and long

Thanks, good advice there, going to see what it'll cost to build them, if it's viable, going to build them up as the boys' "dam bikes", can leave them at the dam, rather than taking their bikes every time we go for a weekend or holiday.
