Shifter, derailer questions

I just picked up a 2017 CCC. Noticed the shifter has gone from a SRAM GX to the NX model. Rear derailer is still SRAM GX. Cassette has also changed from 10-42 to 11-42.

I definitely am running out of gears when going downhill. I put on 32T chainring on my previous Camber and found that was spot on for me.

Is it just just a question of doing the same? Or would it be best to change the cassette to an 11-46? I'm not too knowledgeable about drivetrains TBO.

A little less impressed with the NX shifter (slight plasticky feel). I'm not sure performance wise the GX is much of an upgrade - is it worth sourcing a GX shifter - or should I look at maybe a new shifter and derailer? Or more?

Shot for the advice!

Nothing wrong with the NX groupo. Although the shifter housing feels a bit plasticky, it works brilliantly and with it's position tucked away under the brake housing, it is well protected in a fall.

Almost no difference in "performance" to the GX shifter.

I'm also running the Sunrace 11-42 cassette and a 32 chainring, and for the type of riding I do it is more than sufficient.

I do however plan to go 11-46 Sunrace and 34 chainring once these are up for replacement (still far away, ever after 3000km of use (I do use the 2 x chain system though))
