I don't know what you can change but I do know where you can store that bike from now until the show. And I'll also give you a review of how well it handles that you can display at the stand.

I think Red is lighter then Record. Add some KCNC cable and brakes and you will loose some more. I think they had a Cervelo there last year that was very close to 6. Talk to Joss, he build it. Must it be ridable or just a light show piece?

Cervelo have a 5,5kg show bike that i felt at last years IM and sh*t that was light.I wouldnt ride it though as it had sub 1kg carbon wheels on it and the rest of the bike was Ti and carbon.

Goodluck lets see if you can get a 5Kg bike.Big%20smile

It will be ridable... for sure. The G4 frameset comes in just over 800g in size small, but it's the same frame AG2R are one this year.

Good choice to go Red as it has to be a rideable bike...... kempekker is not rideable!!!!!!!!!

use lightweight wheels' date=' arnt they something rediculous like 980grams a set?[/quote']

They are not practical... in my mind at least. Break a spoke and see how much fun they are :)

The Corima Winnium's are built for climbing, are light, but are practical... they are also much more within a 'normal' budget

go to lewracing.com the wheels they make are 890grams for both then put some kcnc brakes on use some other super light carbon products from m2 racer and you got yourself a super light bike but from my buddy who builds the cervelo's i know how much the bike is gonna weigh at this years expo so see where you can save as much weight as possible and yes red is lighter than record so good luck with your bike its good to see someone has finally decided to give cervelo a good run for their money but remember use a common sized bike like a 53 or 54 so that you prove to everyone that you not trying to make the bikes with a small bike but a competitive bike

Some thoughts/suggestions:

If you are building a show bike to impress folks at the expo, practicality should be a secondary consideration.

Most bang for the buck:

tyres: Tufo Elite Jet tubbies. Will save 200 grams. Not very puncture resistant, but light.

Brake calipers: value for money would be KCNC, ultimate showstopper would be AX Lightness, save another 100 grams.

Meduim bang for the buck:

Handlebar & stem: A Zipp SL bar & Syntace F99 stem should save 150 grams or so.

Fork: Easton EC90SLX, -100 grams. Dont know how light a THM Scapula is, but it is exotic!

Lots of bucks:

Cranks: THM Clavicula or Zipp VumaQuad -100 grams

Wheels: Lots of weight to save here. Ultimate light wheels would be Lew VT1's at 860 grams for the set. Lightweights are very very strong, no durability problems there. Light, more affordable wheels with conventional spokes would be Zipp 202's (but 2008 models, pre 2008 were not so nice)@ 1080 grams for the set.

(I suppose you are limited to Corimas, but how about using Zipps with Corima stickers on?)

I suppose the question is: how light do you want to go?

Thanks, good advice.

I have done loads of research and founf some crazy light products... so it is gonna be light.

We have brought in a few bikes with RED, and not only does is it light, it looks awesome!
