Comeback Kid Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 So I came across this event on the cycle events website and saw that it is timed by racetec, but when I opened the extra info I saw that the starting groups is according to age and not seeding?? So I take it that there isn't any pros doing the race? Any thoughts? Would be a nice race to improve seeding?? http://www.cycleevents.co.za/road-events/sondela-bela-bela-cycle-challenge-2017/
shaper Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Usually flat and fast, just watch out for the potholes
Cycling Major Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Good race, but very small meaning that there is smaller (4 to 10) groups all over the place because of the seeding being according to age.It makes no sense as that means that I have to ride with Elites... So after 10km Im done and have to hall my ass home We normally make it a camping weekend and a nice chilled ride
David Marshall Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 A number of races used to be run like that - Speke, Druiwefees and others. They are no longer seeded according to age if they are run under CSA sanction. My understanding is that the rules force the organisers to split licensed from open batches. This one is not listed on the CSA calendar as yet so in theory licensed riders can't enter.
Nettie R Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Usually flat and fast, just watch out for the potholesThose roads were bad on good days, can you imagine what they look like after rainy season.
'Kaze Pete Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 It did for me three years ago...But then there were [A-E]L categories, as well as $, & %
