Mtb trails in Montagu?

Hi everyone, we are going away to Montagu and would like to ride there, can anyone recommend any trails nearby that I can go to, many thanks

Hiya. Was there a few weeks ago. There are no real "trails" as per say but there are many tracks all around Montagu which you can ride. If you ride up Kerk street towards the hospital you will hit a gate with some jeep track. Head up there as far as you can then hang a left and explore from there. We explored for about 20km eventually ending up near Montagu springs... If the gate is closed by hospital, hang right then first road left up the dirt road at top. Exploring is the best way! Not that I'm ok'ing "trespassing", but the farmers were super friendly and had no issues with us riding on the dirt roads connecting various farms. We were not off the roads amongst their vineyards/orchards... That obviously will upset any land owner... Njoy, beautiful view there!

You had better luck than us or just more perseverance - the few tracks we found when we tried that weren't worth the effort

 

My suggestion, don't bother looking for trails, if there were decent ones they would have been advertised. Take the road up Ouberg pass for a nice climbing workout and then a fast fun downhill back home
