Tick tick noise when peddling

add a grain of sand down the seat tube and pedal = tick tick tick

Yup. I was convinced once that my bb was about to explode in to a million pieces. Turns out a simple wipe of the seat tube was all that was needed!

Wow  what a response-Thanks guys, Will definitely take note of those pointers and see if I can identify the cause of the elusive "tick". Will post the results.

had a bike where the screws of bottle cage were little loose = tiktik

once the screws of front chain wheel/s were not tightened = tik tiktik

rear derailleur loose = tick tik tik

seat post can be fixed if clamp is loose and seat post has play with little plumbing tape at the bottom or have it made 0.2 mm wider for the next size

sprocket could be loose ?

... so many things to check, good luck !

Cover up the sound of the annoying tick by shrieking at the top of your lungs just before it occurs.

check the state of the BB.

Is there any play to the BB?

Take the chain off the chainrings and slowly cycle the crank with your hands to feel for any roughness or pitted areas.

My commuter started ticking recently and over time the tick became louder and a bit scarier ..... new BB = silent bike.

Hi if you are running 2x or 3x system check your cable end at your front deraileur might be that the end is catching the crankarm as it comes around.

Simple but sometimes that will make a tick tick sound.
