MTB training clinics in JHB

Hi All,

I am a newbie MTB rider and the bug has hit hard.

For the past 3 months I have just been getting on to my bike and riding, I have had some basic advise that has worked well for me but I think the "self-taught" episode is coming to an end.

What formal training clinics/schools would you recommend for MTB in Johannesburg?

Thanks

Johan at Tread is cool.

CycleLab do some at PWC.

Peach MTB Clinic.

All great.

But for top class, best of breed, value for money, you must try Sven Lauer UCI Certified.

For the ladies

I still want to go on a one on one with Amy.

Of all the clinics I've been to, they've all helped in some way or another, I took away the most from the ladies day Peach did, my issues now are mostly in my head, but these days I'm focussing more on fitness, and basic techniques, and judging by the bruises on my legs the odd Fanta ride where I go and play and try things.

Most important thing, be fit enough to be able to focus on what's being taught rather than OMG I can't breathe, small groups that are all the same level, otherwise you end up getting left in the corner to practice and forgotten about

Thanks @Uni, @Patchelicios and @Gen - I will check out those courses and dates.

@Uni - fitness IS super key - I think this is a good time to do this because I am fairly comfortable doing +-20k trail riding at about 15km/h almost every weekend for the past 3 months.

Some feedback on this, I did the Tread confidence clininc with Sean and it was excellent - would recommend anyone wanting to understand basics to do the Confidence skill. Just check their website for dates - they have a good online booking system on the site and Hestie is great for responding to any Qs.

I also did the complimentary CycleLab training at PwC park - it helped but too short to make a real impact.

Next up is the speed clinic - but I need to gain a bit more fitness and stregth for that.
