If I'm not mistaken Aap De Heuz is a lung busting climb with more than 20 switchbacks, just check the video of th Contego Segment Hunter posted here a coupe of months ago.

Moridin, do the helderberg trails have downhill switchbacks ? remember Mrs Slowbee has some skill, but not alot of skill

Yes, but not a lot on the normal routes. You could take her to the Hurricane. Some of those berms are mean.

Never-ending is completely trashed and pretty dangerous (deeply rutted) if that is the place to do practice runs, and quite a climb.

Beneath the fire hut a bit better though, an easier climb with a few options (switchback up).

*some very cool and ridable switchbacks on Helderberg, need to have some legs though (good exercise). You will be rewarded with single track/switchback riding in beautiful fynbos, and spectacular views over False Bay and parts of the Winelands.

That it is. But still a brilliant section of trail.
