Headshot Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Dropped my V650 and the screen has cracked. It still works but its hard to read the data off the lower screen. I assumed that like a cell phone the glass could be replaced but not so they say. They have kept silent when I asked about some kind of "crash replacement" deal eg a discount on a new one. Anyone have any experiences that could assist eg someone who can repair the screen. Is a Garmin also effectively a write off if the screen is broken?
Pulse Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 This is just from personal experience... Garmin also tend to "write off" the broken unit, as it is deemed to expensive to repair. But then they do offer excellent exchange/upgrade options. I used to love Polar products, but changed a couple of years ago due to the (lack of) after sale service
Bateleur1 Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 Many years ago my S725 died on me after jumping into the pool. This now happen just as the guarantee ran out. Took it to Polar in Midrand asking howcome a unit that is suppose to be waterproof up to 100 dies when jumping into the pool. Turns out the screen had a crack just under the casing. They replaced the whole unit free of charge. I always rated the Polar service in SA very high. I have not had to deal with them much and nothing over the last 5 odd years or more so would not be able to comment on the service recently.

Vetplant Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 I had a run-in with Polar in the beginning of 2016 because of a known issue where the strap on the RS300x breaks after one year of use. They used to be very accommodating but something changed in their philosophy between 2015 and 2016. Subsequently moved to Garmin and I am a very happy camper.
