Shimano BR-M 447 against Avid Elexer 1

I am looking at different brakes from the Avid Elixir 1 I have. ( had a bad experience with them - back wheel locking up and front noisy) . They are about 25 km old.

Can get a pair of Shimano BR-M 447 for a good price. If all is said and done (bleeding/organic pads for the Avids), would it be worthwhile to chance or rather save for the SLX model?

Can the Shimano BR-M 447 take Icetec rotors?

Helpppppppp

no. Take them in to get looked at. The rotors are likely at fault for the noise. If they're 25km old and there's an issue with them they would be warranteeable.

If you want to upgrade, do it properly - by going to the M447 you'll be going down. Old Deore tech from ages ago.

If you really don't want them, then take them in anyway to get sorted, sell them and buy something else like a normal Deore / SLX brakeset.

Just get the Shimano.

Remove the avids with a hammer and dispose of with petrol and matches

Thanks a lot. LBS said as much but did not believe.

So they are old? I thought as much for the price. Will then shop for the SLX rather?

Went with organics at the Magalies monster. Not  a squeak... And the kept on braking down those monster downhill's. Not changing anytime soon.

Thanks for the advise

Ah, another rider who has seen the light.
