Saddle and knee pain

Weird question. Is it possible for a saddle to cause knee pain? I just bought a new bike, Merida Reactor 400, and all measurements have been set the same as my old bike. My old steed was very comfortable, no pain caused. New steed my butt and knees start hurting after 10 km. If I then stand for a bit without pedalling, the pain in both goes away for a bit. It almost feels like the new saddle is cutting off blood flow which causes the pain.

Does that sound right? Could the saddle be the cause?

Is it a new saddle and is the saddle the same spec (width, profile) as your previous saddle? If you have your old saddle why not put it on and see if it persists.

New saddle that came with the new bike. It is a wider saddle but only about 5mm wider. Have just put the old saddle on, luckily my old saddle is the same color scheme so it still fits the bike.

Even though the measurements are set the same I bet they are slightly out in relation to each other. I once moved my saddle back about 10mm and it solved the knee pain entirely.

Geometry on the 2 bikes are very different. Your reacto has a more aggressive fit so you would need to be set up accordingly.

Go to Deno for a set up.
