Jeez guys. Interesting read. Why not start at the beginning.? Support the venues that have made enduro possible in the first place... And all this talk of sponsors??.... Get out there. Please. Find them. Grow the family, and come build. Make more stuff. Get involved.

Its easy to dream of new places....

FYI We are already planning an Enduro-light option for one of our races this year. The current SP4,7 &8 tracks were built for this.

STEP 1: Bring your marathon mates and come and try it out.

Thanks,

I'm already working on getting some of our club riders to come with for the next endure event.

Was going to do the DH one too but as the track bit me hard I'm out for over six weeks.

I might not be strong enough for the next endure but will for certain be there at DH and Enduro as spectator with camera.

Couldn't of said it better myself there are so many lines at haka from easy to hard if you dont want to ride the A-Lines stick to the B Line Simple but lets get out there and support the guys who are making it happen

Pitty the DH track did not have a B line at "THAT" rock garden.

At least  I got a first ever...

First casualty of war on new Haka DH track.

When are you planning these events. A mate and I are definitely keen to go try it out.

Also, for the KZN guys, where do you guys ride mainly, and on a scale of 1-10 how tough is the technical bits for someone of intermediate skill?

And when are you guys hosting an event again? I've got family who can put up with me and some mates if we come down.

Breaking News : Howick Enduro 24/25 Sept 2017 - LONG WEEKEND

24 Sept : Enduro and Skills clinic on race routes followed by a free ride session .. all trails open to have fun on. Any one on any bike welcome :)

These sort of things I like the most. "Enduro Light" seems to be the correct word to use for newer riders.

+1 for the Giba Gravity Enduro. It will be my first Enduro and I'll be rocking it on my Anthem X 29.

The race is exactly what this thread is all about. Apparently the first 3 stages are difficulty 3/10, to make it inviting for everyone. Then the top 30 go into the final 2 stages that are 9/10.

I'd like some events that are a little more suited to a beginner rider. I don't reckon I have the experience for the real stuff yet.

Its a bit of a Catch 22 for the smaller event organizers/clubs like ourselves...

On the one hand we want to showcase the area and make the Stages challenging and attract the top end rider... bit if its too hard then the beginner/intermediate riders won't ride or enjoy the Stages

On the other we also need to grow the sport and make Stages possible for all riders.. but then the top end riders find the event too easy ...

2 separate events is just not viable from a cost perspective (cost is around 15k for an event)

So basically what we are doing to try cover both is hold a skills clinic on the Saturday , with the top end riders as "Coaches". They are happy to advise and help out the beginners and give some tips to the intermediate riders. This is included in the entry fee . The top end riders get free entry to the next days race.

Sunday is then race day. The plan is 5 stages, of which 3 are "easier" and 2 are "harder". The Enduro Lite is the 3 "easier" stages and the full Enduro is all 5 Stages. Riders enter in whichever event they choose and podiums are awarded per event.

The less skilled okes should rather skill-up outside the framework of an event and then bring their bag of party tricks on race day.

Asking for easier/dumbed down enduro events is like making the 94.7 only 35km so that the unfit/overweight chaps can compete too.

The objective is to get people to want to 'skill-up' by realizing how much fun an Enduro is. I have tried to invite several friends to come join the Giba Gravity, but they're all to *** scared because they think it's going to be hectic.
