What is my bike worth

Howsit hubbers, Instead of creating a new thread I'll just carry on this one.

I have a roadbike I'd like to sell, can you advise on a good price.

It's a 2015 merida reacto 5000 ltd edition.

Comes with a power2max pm with 52/36 rotor chain rings.

Rest is the standard ultegra build.

I'm thinking of advertising it for 35k and hoping to not go below 30k.

Will be selling with stock wheels not the ones pictured.

Nice looking ride. There are those that will say, it is only a Merida (snobs).

Get the pics as you would sell the bike. If you are going to change wheels and maybe remove the pedals, then have pics accordingly.

Unfortunately, a bike is only worth as much as the 2nd hand market is willing to pay for it. And it is a stingy market

Put on what is coming with the sale, photo it well, do a good write up, name a price that is attractive and that you'll have some movement to bargain with then delete this post as you've told everyone you'll take R30k! :)

My friend bought this exact same bike (end of 2016) second hand and it still looked in VERY GOOD condition for R 17 000.00 (it also had one or 2 extras included).

Here is a link to an older add I could find on google (sold on the Hub) which included an extra set of wheels for R 19 500 (price negotiable - would think it probably sold for R 17 500-18 500):

https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/237127-merida-reacto-5000-ltd-2015/

You might be lucky to get R25k, but could be closer to R 22 000-23 000.00 with the Power2max and rotor rings (could even have a few offers around R20k).

Second hand bikes just don't have any good market value...if you want R30k out then rather keep the bike and save up while rider it, and sell in a year or 2 (value won't drop that much more significantly).

I have bought and sold a few bikes over the years and the loss in value / return on investment is HUGE...I think we ALL know this, but the NEW Bike syndrome is stuck in us all   if only I realized this a few years ago and just went on enjoying the beaut I had in 2013...dammit!!!

Thanks, I didn't want to find out what people are willing to offer, there will always be the tool who low balls it completely, but rather if it is a fair price to list it for given the specs.

When you have a 100 tools all willing to pay R15k, now matter how much of a tool you regard them to be, that is what the market is willing to pay. A R35k "fair" price will remain unsold if no tool is willing to offer you that
