Hi there

Can anyone recommend a good, experienced person to do a MTB fitting - Cape Town, Northern or Southern Suburbs.

Have used Irma before - she's good - but want to try someone else.

Thanks

Gear Change Mowbray - very comfortable on my bike now and injury free and I am a very odd shaped chap with all sorts of asymmetries in leg length etcetera.

Debbie Stopforth at Constantia Uitsig Bike Park did a bike fit with me to sort out a knee problem. No fancy stuff like sensors or cameras, but covered everything. I'd go back to her.

I dont want to hijack the thread but would like to hear from members what a bike fit entails besides getting your position correct on the bike . I have done my own fit similar to my road set up  when i got my MTB and then did small adjustments like raise the saddle by 5 mm. and push the saddle back to its max in the seat post .

Proper cleat setup is one thing I can think of.

I would say it is very specific to each person if done properly as reach, leg length, torso length, sit bone width, any numbness or aches, style of riding (I suppose) should all be considered. There are quite a number more measurements possible than simply seatpost height and and handlebar height.

Echo Fox3's thoughts about cleat position - that's essential.

Also for me the big problems were a significant leg length discrepancy that meant one shoe had to be built up by a few centimeters and also problems in sizing a bike correctly because I seem to have got someone else's legs - they too long relative to the rest of me. So a fit that looks at your body's proportions and problems and how those interact with the bike is important.

Unless you're not made of spare parts like me.
