Highly unlikely, but we can dream.

It is very possible that the Peloton would let the lead grow out to 20min before anyone commits to do any work.

My theory on a breakway ride is that the bunch doesn't want to catch you too early, so attack and break away, but then check you pace back to a comfortable level, Zone 1 riding.

Recover and then prepare for an all out effort near the end once they decide to want to pull you back. Escpecially on a stage with a technical run-in they might just miscalculate the chase.

That they don't want to catch you early is a given but today and tomorrow are probably the last chance for the pure sprinters to have any say in the stage wins for a while. They'll be bloody keen to ensure that it today ends in a bunch gallop. I reckon we'll see Offredo caught a few k's short of the finish.

Yep, between 20km and 10km to go I would guess.

They want to have him caught before that chicane at 2km to go.

Longest ever successful ride, Albert Bourlon in 1947 after spending 253km in front

That’ll warm me up ????

Wonder what the total ascent was

And bicycles were very very differently built then

Breakaway rider back in the peloton again.

89km to go.

More fun to come, definitely not going to be a boring run-in to the sprint finish. Expect more team attacks in the crosswinds...
