I still wanted to ask you guys. Lilo recently had her wheelset rebuild, she had normal rims and normal foldable tyres with Stans conversion, then they changed the rims to tubeless when they did they rebuild but still her normal non UST / Non Tubeless tyres worked on the rims without the Stans rim strips, is that normal? Or will only certain Brands of "normal foldable" tyres work on a tubeless rim.

I used the stans kit. LBS just got a new rim strip  that thy say will fix the problem. So I hope that will fix my problem.

I'd say sunlight liquid the bead when installing it. that will cause an air tight seal which will remain slightly tacky. Not sure what sealant you use, but once inflated, shake the wheel violently to make sure you get sealant inbetween the tyre and rim.

Marius, the rimstrip is just there to seal the spoke holes and have valve available. Genuine UST rims do not have spoke holes and have a valve already attached.

Thx DR! Sunlight liquid is the key wyhen converting as per Azonic if how ever you still having problems and want to run low presure without having the tyre burp you can use that stuff you seal the corners in you kitchen and bathroom around the rim were it makes contact with the tyre, nice and airtight. GoLefty swears by it.

thx Parra!

what tyre pressure are you running ?

I run mine with the stans and normal rims at 2.5 bar.

I have not had any issues.

I'm also running 2.5 on the back and 2 on the front, no problems with tyre burps. You just need to ride the tyre in so the stans gets in everywere and seals well.

TIP:  DONT GO BENEATH 2.5 BAR IF YOU DON'T HAVE UST RIMS!!

Had tyre burps when I still had non-UST rims....

Also depends on your weight...

Vetties moet maar styf pomp!!

Hardtails and k@k shocks and forks will also put your tyres under more pressure, rather pump it a bit harder then. K@k riding technique / body positioning will also not help.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
