Tacx Flux - software options

So I have my flux.. perhaps not yet in my hands but am sure soon. I want to start preparing my setup. Planning on using a old momsen 29er frame with a 3x9speed setup. I hear that a long cage derailer does not work. Anyone with a workaround on this yet? Perhaps just a road setup on a MTB frame? The frame will be used on the trainer exclusively. Also, what software do you guys use. It appears Zwift is the way to go but I was quite interested to ride real world video type setups as well. What are the options for doing that?

Cheers!

Rouvy (previously VirtualTraining) does real-world videos, even user-submitted ones. Cheapest option is $8pm, and if you subscribe for a year then the premium subscription works out $10pm.

The "Tacx Cycling app" had some as well, but I don't know if the new "Tacx Training" one does or if it will be added. Their desktop app has, just a tad expensive.

I'm still keen to try Zwift, if they ever decide to stop making excuses and grace Android users with their app.

If my tablet can handle Mortal Kombat X and Asphalt, I think it can manage Zwift

I am certainly going to try Zwift... I am planning on hooking a good spec laptop onto a TV for my setup. Hopefully that covers all bases!

My question who is using what? I assume if we were to talk Tacx then there must be at least 100 flux/neo units in circulation already in ZA. probably double that. That does not talk about the lesser tacx units and kicker etc..  So there must be I recon 1-2000 smart indoor trainers at least on the hub alone?  Really am wondering what they all are using as software? Or are they all really workout focused and not VR? For me I want to not have a mind numbing spin session. Time is preventing me from riding atm as I would need to cycle in the dark.. hence the smart trainer...

Road grand tours is OK, but still very buggy

you can try rouvy as well, but I'm not really impressed

long cage works but you can only use the bottom 5 cogs on your cassette

That was my plan. just see if I can dial the limit of the derailer to prevent shifting up there. With a granny gear up front it soul end up being fine as a start...

if you overshift the cage will let you know will all the grinding and moaning

I use Rouvy, does everything I need. I have not really used the real-life videos, maybe now we've got fiber and a much bigger data allowance I will test again. When riding a route, I just watch whatever my wife is watching on TV. For structured workouts, there is no time for videos or watching TV.

My trainer is a Tacx Vortex Smart.

at the end of the day. looking at the videos of the assembly. it must be easy enough to make a new foot that clears the derailer...
