Yellow road bike

You sound like a shrivelled up granny with wet pants. What's wrong with legally riding on a stretch of public road? It's each rider's decision whether they can handle the traffic conditions or not. I've cycled down that section a few times myself - it's not pleasant, but can be done safely. You need to watch the traffic like a hawk, be assertive and make yourself visible. Pretty standard stuff.

Maybe you need to get out more?

p.s. this is a serious post, I'm not trolling (even thought it's Friday). I'm just sick and tired of cyclists shouting at other cyclists. The more of us on the road the better, full stop. Live and let live a little.

You are proving "rouxtjies'" theory to be correct !!

But that is HIS choice.

Why do people judge this riding so quickly, when his actions can only hurt HIM?

And no one says or does anything about the people who can potentially KILL you ?

Please explain the logic to me!

Its mainly because HIS choice affects the rest of us when we are out on our bikes. Motorists hate cyclists as it is, anyone who gives them more reason to do so affects all of US.

I recently read a really interesting article about how people react to disagreement.

The common theme is that if you disagree with someone/they disagree with you, your subconscious reaction is not only to object, but immediately assume the other person is an idiot, and thus treat them as such.

This thread is a prime example and could be added to the 'true' pile of case studies.

IMO is that people in general are idiots. Not dumb, but idiots. Everyone is too emotional and takes everything personally and/or uses their emotion shrouded in fact to justify their behaviour.

The cyclist will justify his behaviour and believe it. The drivers will toot and hoot and swear at each other and cyclists and padestrians and kids and people walking dogs and dogs all in the name of 'I'm not actually angry but I mean, come on!'...

This country is teetering on the edge of a very deep proverbial precipice and the uncertainty of government, the water situation in the cape, holiday season, inefficiency of government, crime and the general state of the nation despite paying way more tax than we should to a black hole of unaccountability all add to a general feeling of unease, distrust, frustration, anger and entitlement.

People need to take 5 deep breaths and appreciate everything for what it is. Being angry at each other about simple things only adds to the overall effect.

I'm going to go and play with my 2 new kittens and enjoy life like a Muizenberg Hippie. I will luckily do it with less resentment and anger than those who think reacting to the pettiness actually helps... Hello Friday

Can't agree with you more. Almost everyone believes it is their god given right to question anyone that doesn't conform to the present day's fashion.

Agreed, it seems the moment someone finds out you are a cyclist (where I live anyway) you are automatically branded as one of the idiots in the cradle who loves to obstruct traffic and generally cause mayhem....! Even though its 20km odd away and I have never even cycled there!

I also don't understand why cyclists behave like muppets on the road...its sketchy enough out there without upping the odds of being hit by a car.
