Bit late in the year but I've asked to join the endomondo group. Planning on starting to commute once a week to get a feel for it (times to leave etc). Have already brought some spare clothes to work and given the bike a once over. Feeling excited!

1st part of 1st commute done, 20km to work but bloody hell it was a bit nippy on the hands (even with full finger gloves on), took ages to pack up my bike stuff away at the end of the ride due to the two iceblocks where my hands used to be :o

Car is in for a some repairs this week, so I decided to do the commute thing for the first time.

Absolutely loving it and I feel so fresh when I get to work.

I actually have to remind myself I'm riding to work and not out on a Saturday morning ride so I don't leave home and go in the wrong direction  :whistling:

I only live 10km away from work and have been reluctant to cycle to work as I normally hit the gym after work. But from where I work to the gym I'd have to risk about 5km on the N1 which I'm not too keen on

WHOOP WHOOP first commute done this morning since 11th April. Rode home on the 11th and then had a shoulder op on the 12th. Was not allowed to ride for 8 weeks. On 11th June I was cleared to start riding again and then on the 13th June my twins rocked up early. Just haven't had time to ride since they were born.

Due to a stupid pillar jumping out of no where into the back on my bakkie it needs to go in for some cosmetic surgery. The parts should arrive this week so will be forced to ride again. Got my bike out yesterday, dusted her off, gave her a once over, rode up and down the road, charged all batteries and she was good to go. Didn't plan to ride today but clearly knowing my bike was waiting and ready to go made me wake up early(actually the babies just co operated and timed their feed just right).

BUT flip I need to find my sunglasses. I have 3 pairs of oakley jawbones. One for tandem racing, one for single bike racing and the third pair for training/commuting. I could only find my tandem ones that were last worn at the Argus and they were so full of dried sweat they can't be worn until I wash them. I didn't want to use my normal casual glasses. The only pair I could find was a pair of fake oakley holbrooks I bought in Mauritius and wore once the day I bought them. The lenses are useless, I ride directly into the sun to work and at times I couldn't see squat! They will be fine for when the sun is high but when it's low they worth what I paid for them.
