Did my Commute home from the panel beater yesterday. A whole 3.97km    :o

LOL so as I am booking the car in the lady filling out the forms is a little blonde chick. I see she starts writing on what looks like something she will put on my key, so I give her my key before she even asks. I have 2 keys together, ignition and the key for the armadillo roller cover on the back. She asks if I need this key. I say yes I need it back now so I can get my bike out so I can ride home. She was so shocked that I was riding. Asks how far I stay. Tell her its very close. She then tunes me " so you are a bicycle driver?" I say yes I ride a bit. She then asks if I have done the comrades. I say that's running so No. She says yes she knows but have I done the bicycle version. I asked if she meant the amashova and I just got a blank stare. At this stage I just wanted the conversation to end so I could go get my bike and be a bicycle driver.

For the next week or so, come rain or shine I will ride...............whoop whoop.

Said it here before but still smile when I think about it.  It was always funny when I took our cars in for a service.  All kitted out with bike and shoes loaded in the back.  It was like those Mastercard ads on TV.  Bike shoes ... R1500.  Bike R15000.  New car R200 000.  The faces of people waiting for a lift to work at the dealer while you stop, pull you bike out, hand over car and ride off in the rising sun ... priceless. :D

By the way, wtf was up with the weather this morning in Gauteng?!?! Flip it was cold!

I had to put an undervest on. My hands were frozen when I got to work. Coldest I saw on my garmin was 5.8deg. Strava said my average temp was 6. The weather is definitely not what it used to be. My oldest' birthday is 22 Nov and at his party last year everything was planned for outside by the pool and it was so cold we were all huddled up inside. Looking back at photos everyone was in jerseys and beanies.

That is our group .... if you look carefully in the top corner you will see part of my green helmet as I tried to take the pic behind me whilst riding :P

Going to make a checklist tonight of stuff I need to commute and stick it on the wall next to the bike. Set off this morning and realized my work permit was still in the car at home :cursing:

The bag I use for commuting is the same bag I use if I drive in to work. I have also gotten to work before and got to the security boom only to realise my permit was in my car. I also have a complete set of spare clothes at work because I have forgotten something at home before. So I am just in the habit of putting my permit back in my bag after leaving work regardless of the mode of transport.

+1 on using the same bag.

Actually funny when I take the train to work on the day and I have spares, tools and a pump with me on the train.  At least I might be able to help if the train breaks down, you know ... a puncture or something.   ^_^

Although I am running tubeless I have a spare tube and a mini pump in my bag. Being in my line of work, if I have any sort of tool in my bag, security has a fit when my bag goes through the scanner. My bike doesn't get scanned so I now I just have a little tool bag on my top tube that I keep a multi tool, co2 etc. It's just easier that way.
