HOEKVLAG Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I had a RS800CX until Polar refused to update the dongle software for Windows 10 and I couldn't transfer data. Currently have a Fenix 3 and it is the best investment I ever made. You will not regret it.
NotSoBigBen Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Just as an aside for the Joburgers that were used to just popping into NavWorld they don't do the warranty or repair replacements on site anymore. They either send it to Garmin in Rosebank to be 'evaluated' (200 ZA rondt charge) or you can take it there yourself I had a problem with my 820 touch screen on Wednesday ... Took it to their office (11:30) and they booked it in (was mildly irritated as at NavWorld they would sort it there and then). Anyway I received e mails very quickly that it was booked in and then evaluated and a free warrantee replacement would be shipped to me within 24hrs. Got it yesterday at about 10 .... Currently have a Fenix 3 and it is the best investment I ever made. You will not regret it. There is a long debate about the IR Dongle support but not all Polar fault. Windows took out the IR layer in the OS that pretty much screwed Polar. But that is also where Polar lost me as a customer. I would rather go for a product that supports more technologies like ANT+ etc. This is where Polar slept too long on the job. The rest of the products is actually very good.
