David Marshall Posted January 10, 2018 Share Use any grease. The most cost effective is the one found in the neighbours garage!
Jensie Posted January 10, 2018 Share I like the Marine grease, but the normal grease will work.
dasilvarsa Posted January 10, 2018 Share I like the Finish Line Bicycle Grease (White Grease) because it lasts a long time on the hub bearings specially. (MTB)I've used normal Castrol wheel bearing grease on the hubs but it seems to last less time, A few rides and it's all gone.

Traveler Posted January 10, 2018 Share You can use any grease that you like, question is if it is fit for purpose... Grease is a specialist lubricant and designed to lubricate under specific pressures and at specific temperatures. Using high performance industrial grade grease in your bike will not lubricate as a light duty grease will do. It is advisable to get the best protection and lubrication to use a bike specific grease. However, as I said, you can use any grease, that includes lard, but should you? As much as i agree with the statement, Bike specific is usually just rebranded something else. When replacing grease in bike try using grease that conforms to the same type/specifications.Wheel bearing grease is usually fine for your bearings of all kinds on a bicycle. Good and straight forward answer. I'm replacing all my bearings on my hardtail. Headset, BB, Hubs etc. Jockey also getting a good overhaul and new gear cables. I have a tub of Castrol WB grease and Chevron grease just sitting in the garage. Just not sure if i can use these grease and why not.
dasilvarsa Posted January 10, 2018 Share you are supposed to put it on the inside mate HA HA Funny Comment. Of course it goes on the inside. On the Cups Balls and Cones. The slimy black/brown cheap stuff just does not last as long.I'd rather pay 3 times the price for 1/5 the grease and get the good stuff. Traveler Posted January 10, 2018 Share You can use WB grease on your bike, ESI is a medium to severe duty extended service interval product, nothing on a bike can stress it beyond the intended use specification. If it is an old tub/container of grease go through the extra trouble of mixing it thoroughly. Grease is a semi-solid lubricant, over time the oil and the soap (emulsifier) does separate. Giving it a proper mix will ensure you get a balanced product which has not separated yet. I am being pedantic.....
