I rode with the schwalbe G-One all round gravel tire. 38mm. Did quite a bit of gravel and corrugated and single track riding and never had a problem with them. First 1km of dirt on Saturday and that was me done for the day with a puncture and a side wall cut in the same place on the tyre.

All recommendations welcome for new tyres! I am going to give the Panaracer 38mm gravel king tyre a try going forward!

Maxxis Rambler Silk Shield 700 x 40c (38mm when you measure it). Was able to ride 5000km before i replaced it with the same. Always made sure i replaced the sealant with fresh sealant before a big race and pump the front and rear to 2 PSI (i weigh 87kg) and super impressed and happy with the Ramblers.

Have done Karoobaix, Cederberg100Race, Swartberg100, just to name a few without any punctures or sidewall cuts.

Also run ramblers 40c on one of the gravel bikes, top both tyres. Have 40c Sawtooths on the other, and the Spez tyres are actually substantially wider in real world installations Edited by Patchelicious

I ride with the Kendal 700 x 40mm gravel tire. Very happy with it so far.

+1 for the Ritchey Megabytes 700*38, have done many kilometers on them in all kinds of conditions including Saturday and no problems yet!

I've ridden a few hundred km's on conti cyclocross (mainly commuting) and they are pretty useless on anything other than grass. I can highly recommend Ritchey megabite 38C, which I rode with. I was super impressed with the tyre!

Have a look at the Gravel Grand Prix event coming up in October at Verkykerskop near Harrismith. Two day gravel stage race that starts and finishes at the same venue on both days. www.gravelgrandprix.co.za

I was keen to ride this but the cost! Cheapest entry is R1300 for two reasonably short stages. This excludes any option of food, tents. Sadly, not going

I’m In. I think it’s gonna be a fun different race. Partnering with Nathrix who is probably gonna kill me for being so unfit
