CTCT Training rides, Cape Town

OK, I'm gonna give this one last bash.

I know the racing season has started in earnest, but I want to do at least two x training rides before 11/03/2018.

As I have not entered for any races (might enter for Tour De PPA on 25/02/2018), I'm free any of the weekends leading up to the CTCT, either Sat or Sun.

Anybody else interested, otherwise I will just arrange with my small group of training buddies to do it when it suits us.

Durbanville.

The route I normally take excludes the first section on Nelson Mandela Blvd and Blue Route, only joining up at Westlake, and is 118km.

About 80% of the route. And yes, I believe nothing prepares you better for a "race" than to train on the actual route.

So distance training for me on the weekends (at least 1 x 100km +) and shorter rides of up to 45km in the week.

Not an option, I stay in the Northern Suburbs.

Had a lekker relaxed ride on my own this morning. Very few other cyclists on the route, most was probably riding the 99'er. WEATHER WAS STUNNING!!

My next planned ride is on weekend of the 24th.

Sorry for the thread hijack, I'm considering a ride on Friday 9 March, based on a ride a friend did recently.

From what I can see on Strava, the route has some nice climbs, but it is less than 50km so I figure it shouldn't kill my legs too much before the CTCT.

I just worry that, on a weekday, this route might have a lot of traffic early in the morning and around 4pm?

So not sure what the best time might be.

make sure that whole ride is super super easy. Might not kill your legs, but they may not recover properly in time for the Sunday. If you are coming off a taper, then a short ride with some quick spin ups is all you need to wake your legs up for sunday. But there are other ways to go about it for sure.
