I knew I was gonna be off work for at least 2 weeks so I decided to build this project bike at the lowest cost possible to test stuff on (i.e. some LX levers and XTR calipers that needed some work etc.) that I had lying around.

Frame - brand spanking new Scott Yecora frame - thanks Justin

Wheels - existing Magura FUN training wheels

Tyres - Lil Ben's discarded nearly brand new Vredestein killer bees !

Fork - brand spanking new RS Tora 302 SL (800ZAR)

Seatpost/handlebar - lying around Kalloy/BBB Fibretop

Stem - Scott components - thanks Justin

Grips - GT lockon - slightly damaged - Thanks Justin

Seat - Scott original - Thanks amateur - will go on my TT bike sometime

Shifters - LX dual control - damaged needed work, stripped screws - thanks Quinton

Brake calipers - XTR - the ones with the stripped threads I discussed before, got them fixed - thanks Dion

FD - new Deore - 150ZAR

RD - LX, needed some TLC - thanks DR

Cranks/BB - Truvative Firex, the BB has been serviced as per DR's pictures

Cluster - Deore - 200ZAR

Chain - Best of the chains in our garage .....

Rotors - 1 Avid Juicy 5 wavy and 1 Hope wavy (very light)

BigBen logo from my mate Willem thanks!

Thanks to all of the above and specially to Justin for having me in his workshop putting the finishing touches and bleeding the brakes.

I can't ride it yet but Lil Ben is taking it out for a spin with Brother BB tomorrow morning through the Rietvlei zoo farm.

I hope to be back on the bike next weekend (probably road only) then back on the MTB the week after. Will keep in touch and meet there as soon as I can!

That looks to nice to be a project bike !!!!

Big%20smile - not too shabby Nige! May end up my official training bike ........ if the LX dual control/LX rapid rise/XTR caliper combo work out good that will go to the S-works hardtail and the old XT trigger/XT RD and Magura Julies can go on the project/training bike Smile

That was the whole idea of doing it in the first place, to try these out Wink

Nice BB!

I've always had a thing for Scott frames, I don't know why.

I don't suppose you'd be kind enough to give us a rough breakdown of the costs? Or the total cost? I've been thinking of doing a project bike, but the money involved is putting me off at this stage.

edit: Nevermind - I see there is costs for everything except the frame.

The frame was 'donated' Big%20smile! I guess in total the cost has been about 1400ZAR ........
