Is a 17.5 frame correct if I'm 1.8m tall?

Hi all just purchased a Trek Fuel Ex (frame size 17.5). I'm 1.8m tall. Haven't had the time to go for test rides, etc.

I see that the sizing and fit guide on Trek website ponit me to 18.5 / 19.5.

The shop gave me two bikes to test in parking lot, my 17.5 and a 19.5. I am a newbie, so asked for their advice. They told me that I can choose either (17.5 & 19.5) they both fit.....

Am I just paranoid looking at the sizing chart, or will the 17.5 be fine?

so you rode both of them at the shop?

and now after research you're questioning your gut feel?

take it back to the shop and double check, otherwise you will be questioning it forever

Get a proper bike fitting done. Without it, you're just guessing. And possibly spending a lot of money on the wrong size bike. Both my husband (very tall) and I (short) turned out to be on the wrong sized bikes because in our early days of cycling, we simply bought a bike based on our height - turns out he's inflexible (sits upright), so he's on a smaller frame than expected, and I'm short but flexible with long arms, so I'm on a larger frame than expected. Get the bike fit done.

Just received my 19.5 frame. Went for a 8km ride and I can already tell I'm more comfortable on this frame.

I will get a fitment done soon.

Thanks for all the advice you guys

Been to Meerendal and it was awesome.

Now I need a proper fitment. My wrists was taking a beating. Dropped the handle bars more forward / downward to get better angle on my brake levers.

No my right hand goes numb when riding......

But I'm so happy with the 19.5 very glad I managed to change it out.

Where in Cape Town.... Northern suburbs can I get a good bike fitment done? d0c8dcc19fd1e3092bee4c66b7bdcaef.jpg
