Silverback Trail/Enduro bikes

Hey guys.

First off I’m sorry for posting the links and not pictures but I can’t fit all the tech spec stuff nto one screen shot.

I’m looking for some advice here.

I’m keen on a trail/enduro bike, tbh I have no idea what the difference between the two are. But I want to hit jumps, drops and feel confident when descending. I’m no Chuck Norris but I’d like to take some lessons. So that is why I want to know if I should go 140 or 160?

I like the idea behind the surface, lekker fat tires and interchangeable wheels geo etc. But. Is 140mm of travel enough? When and why do you need 160mm?

Then the two forks. The only fork I know of is the Pike and the DVO forks. Probably due to marketing. How do the Revelation and Yari compare?

Or do I just upgrade the whole suspension platform when buying the bike?

These Sunringle wheelsets, are they any good?

I wanted to get a Cotic Rocket max but for the price I think it is a bit mal.

Does anyone know what these two bikes cost? I found a place in Spain that sells the Surface for €2500. Other than that I could not find other pricing.

Thanks for the help.

Sunringle wheels are pretty good. What model are they?

SUNringlé Düroc 30 Comp, Alloy 29"", 32H, Black, Rim Width 30mm on Front: SUNringlé 15thru Axle, 110mm OLD, Boost hub Spacing, 32H, Sealed Cartridge Bearing hubs.

What are you riding at the moment? Will the purchase you make now replace your current bike or is it an n+1?

I wouldn't worry about the jargon. The lines between trail and enduro are so blurred everyone just calls them all trail bikes now. I think 140mm is the sweetspot. Especially for the average joe. But purists would argue that for a bike to fit squarely in the enduro category. It has to be around the 160mm mark. Then again there are some pretty aggressive 120mm bikes too which are all sorts of fun.

Ah okay. It is a n+1, I ride a rigid ht so I’m looking for something that won’t limit my riding as much if that makes sense.

Awesome man! I’ll look him up and send a pm.

If you know what you're doing then 140mm is probably best. If you're learning and just want some fun then go for 160mm for a bit of extra forgiveness. I have the latter and absolutely love it - I'm more than happy to go out and ride 40km on it as well if there are some fun downhills to make it worth the effort (this was my biggest concern when I bought it). I had a 140mm bike before this and my (lack of) skills meant I still found it a bit too challenging on technical courses.

27mm inner width is not bad at all. Fairly wide and will give your tyres a nice profile at 440grams a rim. Very nice

Cool man. Would have been nice if it came with the 650b wheels tho. But I guess havng a spare set could be handy.
